Island Life Engineering LLC (ISLE) was selected to perform forensic engineering to investigate flooding issues on the Island of Hawaii. High up in the coffee country of the Holualoa area near Kailua-Kona area, rainfall events can be intense. The steep slopes and rocky terrain of the volcanic slopes can result in flash-flood type runoff, which is often destructive to the landscape and properties. Historical data research along with field investigations led to discovery of the source of the flooding issues, and mitigation for the affected properties were proposed.
ISLE looks forward to assisting in the implementation of the mitigation measures to protect affected properties from future intense rainfall events in the area.
